Okay, just removed the charcoal filter. Did it all with my suit on, tie over the shoulder and my handy dandy BMW screwdriver from the trunk. Sat for awhile with engine and radio on. Rev 2-3 times before shutting down. Sounds great!! cant wait to get on the highway. I had the heat welds holding mine in place. All I had to do was loosen the O-ring and had easy access to the filter for removal. 5 minutes

best intake setup would be the RPI ram air scoop with aftermarket air filter in the stock airbox, and with a charcoal filter delete

too cool just to put "+1"

Uhhhh, so let me get this straight. If I add an AFE CAI, I will lose power, even though I might get a cool V8 sound? Is there any empirical evidence of this power loss? I was considering getting the AFE CAI. In my extensive modding career, I've always experienced good results with adding a CAI, usually gaining .1 or .2 in the 1/8th mile on other vehicles. It is usually the best and most cost effective of all mods.

Well after a trip home and back to work I can say that I'm happy with the Charcoal filter delete. Noticed a little extra pep and the sound wasn't like a CAI, but it did have a lil more grunt. Now I need the RPI scoop.

The Dinan box will add power, but it is very similar to the stock box. It is just a little larger and has two cold air intake hoses rather than the one that is stock. They recognized that what BMW did stock was very good, but made minor improvements upon it.
