cleung,
Doesn't ESS make a super charger for this engine? I imagine its huge $$$$ though. They may also have a tune similar to the BMX Powerbox but I think the hp gain is minimal. Also if I remember correctly I read about another member in the past who swapped out the bottom end, crank rods, pistons and shafts. Again that one must still run in the Thousands. Have you considered changing the headers?

most of what seems to be available comes at a huge cost for very little gain unless I go forced induction which is still huge cost but substantial gain. I recently did the headers which is probably the last of the cheap mods available.
I suspect that I too am now at a stalemate and I won't see any further big increases in hp or torque given that the dollar/performance ratio is just inhibiting. The next step is to drop the cash on an E60 M5.
With the F10 models emerging soon we could see some aggressive pricing on the E60s. That would be my ultimate mod.....Ha ha.

If you are truly happy with your car and you have an m54 motor and you want to keep the car for awhile, it seems like a no brainer to get the 5k supercharger from ESS and pick up another 100hp or so. With that said if you have money and are willing to sell the car than of course m5s are now dirt cheap or 550s's are dirt cheap. Easiest thing to do is sell your 530 and spend another 5k on a 550i of a newer year.
So depends on if you are set keeping your car or not. Pesronally if you had 5k to drop, by not sell and pick up a 550?

thank you might as well get nitrous instead bc that would probably be the only way for you to get 100+ HP IMO
