Ha ha.

I had a 1990 Mustang LX 5.0. No car I have ever owned before or since could smoke the tires the way that that car could. That car specialized in laying down rubber. And when I drove that car in my early twenties, I did a lot of that.

My view is simple. During the time of the lease, I am paying for the use of the car so I can drive it any way I want during the lease's term.
I don't think so. Lease is another word for a long term renting a property/equipment/autos etc. The property you are leasing is not yours meaning
you can't do whatever you want. That's why there is an annual mileage restriction and you are responsible for damages etc.
I believe on the lease contract somewhere stats beyond "normal wear and tear" you will have to pay to fix/recondition the car.

When your lease is up and when the tech test drives the car and the tranny is slamming/rough when changing its gears etc, you will be screwed as at the end of 3 year lease, that's not the normal behavior at that age/mileage. Remember, abusing a car and driving spiritually are two different things.

Actually a slamming tranny seems to be normal for the 550i

Frank had issues with slamming in his 550i as did a BUNCH of other people. And as I recall, Craig also had a slamming issue on his 535i...

Could be, I read the first page then skip to page 4 then I replied.
I guess I should've read all pages. I just hate to read people abusing leased cars(but now I get it what Scott meant by 'anyway I want').
Unfortunately, I can't delete/edit my previous reply.

I've leased all of my cars and I do understand your point. That's why I always return the car physically pristine and undamaged. I've always returned the car with a reasonable amount of tread left on the tire. I've never had a problem at lease turn in and I've leased five cars since 1996 (Infiniti Q45t, Saab 9-5SE V6, BMW 540i Sport, Infiniti M45 Sport, BMW 550i Sport).

Brake torquing from a stop is not my normal lauch style but I've done it occassionally on all my car (all have had auto trans). My transmissions have always held up during my leases and I always bring the car in for regular services and have always had all mechanical problems fixed ASAP when I found them. I don't do neutral drops. If you brake torque the transmission occassionally, it will be fine. Driving the car hard but within its performance envelope is not a violation of the lease. Running at high rpms will shorten the engine and tranmission life somewhat but doing so is not a violation of the lease.

What am I thinking?
Anyway, I was referring to a slamming upshifts to next gear but honestly, I'm not sure if 550AT had upshifts issues.
So I'll take back my words

I don't think Scott beats the snot out of his cars every day.... but who doesn't brake start once in a while
