I rarely use it as it mostly seems to be unable to hear me correctly!
I?ve always considered that this area remains work-in-progress as far as BMW is concerned; there is a whole lot more that can be done with voice commands i.e. local programming/set-up (aid local dialect issues) or indeed by the user/driver to add smart controls etc................
As to my initial comment here?s a humorous related story re Voice Commands (VC) ? my ex wrote off 5 cars in our time together ; she possessed limited (I?m being kind here) co-ordination hence any requirement to e.g. change a radio channel or alter climate etc. whilst driving could induce an erratic or ?no? control driving period From this you?d believe voice commands replacing most in-car controls could be advantageous especially as she like many females could, and frequently did, ?verbalise? incessantly..........well after writing of her second MB during the post hospital checks we were sitting in the ER (we were living in the US then) reviewing how the latest write-off had occurred she stated that she?d become quote ?confused when I was changing the radio? ? my oh my, at the time in her MB that was voice controlled and when I mentioned this (I had in the past suggested the she should use VC as it was simple to press one button and speak being far easier than look at the dash, seek a control and then action) she looked at me with dagger eyes and exploded with the statement I was being ?too bloody clever for my own good, you were not there?. I do know what had happened and it had everthing to do having another ?confusing? moment that had coincided with a requirement to turn the wheel to corner whilst seeking to change the radio via the dash controls - perhaps I was being less than sensitive then but having to stump up for yet another car, at his point we were on 4 totalled, the situation entitled me to offer some future ?pocket? protection did it not? The moral of this tale is VC can be considered a safety feature

2006 BMW X3
I use if for screen switching ("trip computer"), some navigation commands ("perspective", "scale 800 feet"), and phone dialing when I don't have the number programmed. Speaking the phone numbers work although its rather tedious.
My car absolutely does NOT understand "ipod" or any track selection commands.

My Ride: 2007 530i, white/black manual, sports package, nav, PDC, etc.
I once said, "service request" and nothing happened. So I tried, "fuck you" and the car died.

I probably use the command "ipod" the most, followed by "dial <insert name>"
I tried "warp speed" a few times but it doesn't help.

They're in the Information section of this web site, listed under Current Owners. It's a 75kb PDF.
