Hey Eurocarfan,
Remember that we are in deepest darkest Africa where the steering wheel is on the right, we drive on the road and walk on pavement.
We post letters, jelly is desert and you put jam on toast.

No to mention that high speed broadband for us is a massive 512 so it probably takes dealers weeks to get what you guys get in a couple of hours.

Let's hope that when 19.1.1 eventually does get here that it does the job.

You forgot the one that gets them all: a Robot = Trafficlights

Or the waiter that brought me a bowl of hot water when I asked for the Bill ( Cheque in USA )

hahaha... I did not mean to brag that I already have v19.1.1. I meant to answer 5 Rakete's question about what's supposed to be the latest rev.

It may take a while for you guys to get what we get here in the US but it probably takes us just as long to get it after folks in Europe. =)

If someone has the latest version of "SI B 61 14 03 Software Errors Corrected With CIP" please post it. The one I have, dated September 2005, shows 19.01 and it's the latest one on BMWTIS, just checked. I'd like to know when they've fixed their latest blunder, the intermittent muting with AM, FM, and apparently CD as well. Thanks.

I just got CIP 18.1 and I have to say, I don't notice any differences. My 545 was a May '05 build, so there may not be any significant changes. I had heard there were transmissions improvements, but I haven't noticed any differences.

My v19.1.1 upgrade fixed a rattling noise and malfunction light related to Active Steering; fixed my auto headlights from staying on even when I'm in sunlight; and fixed the slamming downshift...my car now revs and shifts smoothly. Feels great.

I also noticed an addition of a sidebar on the left of the Nav screen with some icons for quick adjustments of some navigation functions.

Just a bit of CIP history:

The noise with the Active Front Steering issue was fixed in CIP 18.00.

The auto headlights turn on and stay on after a tunnel or bridge issue was fixed in CIP 16.1.

The harsh 2-1 downshift issue was fixed in CIP 17.01.

The NAV system icons were added with CIP 16 or 17, not sure about which.

By the way when I say "fixed" that means BMW says they were fixed. It may be that it wasn't fixed for everyone and other things may have been broken.

I've attached SI B 61 14 03, Software Errors Corrected With CIP.

To clarify, I'm the second owner and to my knowledge, this car never had any upgrades so this was the first. That's probably why I had all those problems. Thanks for the info 5 Rakete.

Given the stability of the software (although it is improving) the mantra "if it ain't annoyingly broken don't fix it" applies. I wouldn't have bothered with an upgrade except for being in the shop to replace my AFS/ARS system cooler. Now I have music interruptus in exchange for what were less annoying software issues. Oh well.

So don't feel you missed out by perhaps not having any of those intermediate CIP versions.

Today my car should have been updated but it was supposed to take 300 min.

I needed the car tomorrow, so the dealer did not take the risk because if it jams 1 min before the end the process has to be started again...

I had my car at the dealer Monday for some work and they upgraded my CIP to 18.0.? I guess we in the US always get new stuff late (new car models like M5, CIP, etc.).

Sometimes, it's good to have things late. You don't have to deal with all the headaches. My slogan is, "If you are no the bleeding edge of technology, you will definitiely bleed." Reading about glitches and software updates makes me feel like I bought a $60K Windows system.

Those old computer guy/car jokes (computer guys says to reboot the car) is becoming a reality. It's not joke anymore folks.
