Just a bit of CIP history:
The noise with the Active Front Steering issue was fixed in CIP 18.00.
The auto headlights turn on and stay on after a tunnel or bridge issue was fixed in CIP 16.1.
The harsh 2-1 downshift issue was fixed in CIP 17.01.
The NAV system icons were added with CIP 16 or 17, not sure about which.
By the way when I say "fixed" that means BMW says they were fixed. It may be that it wasn't fixed for everyone and other things may have been broken.
I've attached SI B 61 14 03, Software Errors Corrected With CIP.
My v19.1.1 upgrade fixed a rattling noise and malfunction light related to Active Steering; fixed my auto headlights from staying on even when I'm in sunlight; and fixed the slamming downshift...my car now revs and shifts smoothly.? Feels great.?
I also noticed an addition of a sidebar on the left of the Nav screen with some icons for quick adjustments of some navigation functions.
I got the NAV ICONS with CIP 16.2 so was probably there in 16.1.
Besides the fixes, does BMW publish the "enhancements" such as the Perspective View/ICONS and the various versions getting MP3? Those were not a fix and do not get listed in the bulletins I've seen to date.
Nope, I know hard to tell but going the opposite direction - a night launch of GPS IIR 14(M) - long exposure camera. I have been on the receiving end, however, but at Ascension or on TASS. MM3, A3, C3 and D5 in various guises including multiple RBs. I always ducked

Used to work on C4 and Peace Keeper as well analysis of various and sundry ballistic and air breathing systems when there was an Evil Empire. That's why your Cobra moniker and the pic got my attention.

Here's something scary:
Took my car in for oil service since it was due and decided to finally have the DPE reprogramming performed as well (got the recall notice back in Dec '04). Asked my SA what CIP version would be installed and he said ver. 17.
This from Valencia BMW. He is either misinformed or their location is late, late, late receiving updates.
They had to keep the car because "the computers are down" so I am now on my second day of waiting. They gave me a VW Jetta as a loaner. I really miss my car.

Well 19.1.1 was installed today, old version was 17. Only obvious thing is my amber side LED's are now working. Drive home was quite short so not enough time to test everything.
I also found out that when they read your key, if there is anything needing attention in 7000km or less, then they will do it at the same time. So mine was in for oil service but they did the front brakes at the same time which were only due in 7000km time.

Sango,
Did you get to see the job card? It's possible that they said they would replace them but did not?
Did you notice how much mielage there was left "before" they changed the brake pads?

It's difficult to say. Maybe you should ask the dealer.
It does not make sense that if they are prepared to do a maintenance plan change at 7000km that after the change it resets to only 10000km, it should be more like 15000km!!
