That is what she always tell me about the A4 and A13 over here.

having never heard/seen TMC in action in the UK will it help us much on our crappy road network ?? anyone who's used it comment, interested to know.

or does it just state the obvious like most traffic warning systems seem to do:

"The M1 is closed, I can work out alternative routes using my GPS brain but I can guarantee you they will all be gridlocked in every directions and you'll be sat in this car for at least an extra 2hrs"

It actually works a treat, mate. It's saved my bacon on more than one occasion.

And you have that smug sense of satisfaction each time it works it's magic for you

My guess all along is that there is a coding problem on the actual business nav dvd itself.

So hopefully, when 2005-1 (for example) comes along you should just be able to pop this in and it will work.

Aside: If you stick your Nav dvd in a PC you will see huge numbers of database html tables - I think these are what are screwed and would explain why TMC works OK if you drive your car to the continent but not in the UK (country specific content).

I agree with browellm, it looks like a problem on the Navteq disc.

Jimbo, that is a part of the NAV and BMW Assist that is supposed to help us navigate around traffic congestion. Doesn't work very well.

TMC is Traffic Message Control. On my previous E46 it worked great. It even told what happened when there was a traffic jam (so an accident, roadwork or just a congestion).

my dealer said that all he can do is update the software if and when TMS comes out for free. But i told him that updates are part of the package and they are free. he said that the brochure, dvd cover and manual have all been misprinted.

I phoned BMW GB and they said that our suport and help line is closed and i should phone them tomorow. i told him the details and he said that i have good a good case against them.
