This is not a nice thread to read, shows the state of the UK.
I recently bought a 530D and assumed I would be able to leave it anywhere as to me its a sensible family car but maybe I was wrong
What with wheels and bumpers being stolen left right and centre I'm thinking I sould have kept my Focus RS, so few of them about that parts being knicked was not an issue.

I don't believe it, just searched on google for locking wheel nuts and the 1st listing is for a kit to remove all locking wheel nuts as used by the AA
what chance do we have.

That sucks Bruce.........
Statistically once you have been targeted thieves generally come back up to 3 more times, usually once they know you have replaced your initially stolen item, its also a fact that most people who suffer burglary move home to escape it .......
I don't consider ANY part of London a nice neighbourhood Bruce - to be honest.
I hope you both are able to move on from this mate, and like already said, that you have a better year next year !!

Why did the tilt alarm not go off? Well if nothing else I discovered that if you press the lock button on the fob twice it turns off the motion sensor and tilt alarm (probably for people who leave dogs in the car), it doesn't describe this in my manual.
It doesn't matter what the gap is between presses, so if you lock the car when you get home at night and then for peace of mind press the lock button again before you go to bed, hey presto you've disabled the motion and tilt alarms. Quite bizarre really, on every other car I've owned, the second press activated the double lock!!!!

I remember you saying your wife wanted to move before when your wheels were taken. Now with someone entering your home it must be more of an issue. I hate the feeling of having my privacy invaded. Had someone break into my townhome 30 years ago when i was single. Seems like they are still there even after they left.

sorry to hear bruce, I have wheel locks on mine, and I just ordered the MCGARD ULTRA WHEEL LOCKING NUTS too... I recall few months ago, I took one of my car to a local tire shop, and there was a dude there who had lost his "key" for the wheels lock, and the tire shop guys had this weird tool that opened the lock in 30 sec...
