I tried exactly the same thing today as preparation for the meeting with the engineer on Wednesday! Must have been telepathy.
My car started to move after 35 minutes. The car went to sleep after ~ 15 min, but did not move. Then, ~ 20 min later (I had already given up), it started to roll backwards.

Well I suppose that it's good news that you can duplicate the problem without risking any damage to the car or other immovable object.

It's clearly something not right with the car -- hopefully they'll fix you up and you can let us know what it was!

I couldn't resist but to try this rolling experiment. I parked my car on my driveway with four 2" tall bricks placed 2" behind the wheels. This is just to see whether the car will move or not. I left the gear in 1st and no parking brake was engaged.

Conclusion, the car did not move at all. My driveway has about 8 degree incline.

For all you SMG'er, you can just try this experiment by pushing your car without hand brake, and with the gear in 1st. If it moves, then you know the transmission has disengaged itself.

Did you wait long enough for the car to go into sleep mode?

Whe your car goes to sleep, what sounds does it make? The same SMG hydraulic whining as when it wakes up? Mine also makes a loud clack/bang noise.

I've never heard any loud clacks or bangs when the car goes to sleep or wakes up. Clearly, there are noises but most of them are sort of a buzzing sound.

You know what I think mines does a small clack sound after a few minutes after I shut off the engine... I notice it when I'm like wiping the windows or wheels or what not.

I certainly sounds like the transmission... maybe the clutch being released? I usually park the car in neutral when I'm in the driveway or garage...

Does anyone know if Sport mode on SMG makes the shifting quicker? And can I use it right away or do I need to wait till I break in my car? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Yes its faster... and ya you should be able to use it right away... I wuold wait till 300 miles or so tho. WHY? cuz thats what they said it will take for the clutch to break in and I would break in the clutch softly first.
