What dealer did you go to? I was hoping to get it done when I took the car in for some warranty issues. If I have to pay, then there staying on for sure. [/quote]
I went to Shelly BMW. The technicians are very competent servicing the new 5 such as CIP update. They only have about 8 BMW loaners, so they give out free Enterprise rentals for warranty services. If you try to call the Service Advisors, they're always too busy to answer the phones. I get return phone calls several hours later.

My dealer wanted to charge $55 to activate or deactivate the DRL. Is this correct? My car was in service to replace the A/C compressor (noise issue). I thought for sure the DRL thing is free of charge, when the car is in for service.

I was very unhappy about the dealer. The service advisor told me to bring the car in at 7:30 in the morning for the A/C compressor replacement. When I brought the car in, she said the parts for the compressor did not come in. When the parts finally came next week, I told the SA to activate DRL and install the BMW wheel locks. She wanted to charge $55 for DRL and $30 for wheel locks. I guess it's ok to waste other people's time, but they charge every minute for mechanic's time. At least the A/C compressor noise is gone now.

Good luck

I always drive around with my normal headlights on (the xenons). What's the difference with the DRL and the normal xenons?? And what If you get them deactivated but drive around with your xenons on during daytime would that be a problem?????

NO. It has to be done by the dealer. BMW Assist can't enter the car settings!
