Even in the "light" countries, we have people wearing dark sunglasses, cars with dark tinted side windoww, bridges and people that just aren't paying attention.

I'll leave mine on. Just in case. It's cheap insurance.

The cheap insurance is a very good point!

And it doesn't hurt having them on.
(They are not as bright as foglights... )

My dealer wanted to charge $55 to activate or deactivate the DRL. Is this correct? My car was in service to replace the A/C compressor (noise issue). I thought for sure the DRL thing is free of charge, when the car is in for service.

I was very unhappy about the dealer. The service advisor told me to bring the car in at 7:30 in the morning for the A/C compressor replacement. When I brought the car in, she said the parts for the compressor did not come in. When the parts finally came next week, I told the SA to activate DRL and install the BMW wheel locks. She wanted to charge $55 for DRL and $30 for wheel locks. I guess it's ok to waste other people's time, but they charge every minute for mechanic's time. At least the A/C compressor noise is gone now.

What?! No heated discussion here? Well, I just wasted my time preparing my WMD intended for Iceman. I also prepared a joke for him too...

The only problem that I generally had with the DRL comes from being a motorcyclist. You used to pretty much always know that it was a motorcyclist coming because had the headlight on, and more people payed attention to that IMHO. Now most people don't think twice about them, and motorcyclists are starting to get varying headlight brightness to attract attention, which is more bothersome IMHO.

Personally, I would like the Angle Eyes to be a bright HID color and use them as DRL.

The Camaro's and Corvettes, had brighter Amber lights on instead of the headlights, and though this was a good solution.

My 0.02 cents.
