Thanks... I've never had a car old enough, or long enough to have to replace shocks (We're at 71K on it right now)- so I had no clue at what time we could/should expect them to need replacement. I was thinking that might've been the case- but was hoping it wasn't. We never had that problem on the stock 16's, but on these 19's, she's rubbing on dips. If I see the dip in time, and slow down, there is no rub, but if the speed limit is 40, and I hit that dip at 40 (Scrub).

But, on tight turns, high-angle drive ways, pulling in and backing in. No rub.

There is a decent amount of clearance on all 4 tires- so I was reall surprised the first time that rub happened.

I know it doesn't sound good, but, what are the risks of doing nothing? Is there a chance of damage to our car?

Damn... I didn't want to have to buy new tires...
well the risk is, if you are going high speed, it can act as sharp knife and can rip your tire off... also it will wear tires really quickly...

well it doesnt matter you have decent space between tire and fender... your suspension would travel into the fender when there are huge dip... so if your tire is too big it can rip the fender out or pull the fender out like what happend to me...

well again, you cannot compare with 16' and 19' ... first 16' has spec tire size... 19' dont... thats why it is rubbing...

try this... turn your wheel and see if you are touching the fender liner... if it is... i recommand you to change the tire

Thanks guys...

I'll check that for sure. The rear tire is definitely not rubbing. I'll do the turn to turn rub test- but I don't think they're touching there- but I will definitely make sure...

Yeah the rears will be ok. A 285/35 is fine you're MPG and acceleration will be affected and if lowered rubbing could occur

The front circumference is too big. A 35 series or lower will cure your front rubbing issue. Also the struts should be replaced, the Bilstein struts will be a fine upgrade even Koni's. A lot of us have ditched those stockers for a upgrade.

OK, I put these Asanti AF112's on, wrapped in BFGoodrich 285/35ZR/19 (Rear), and 245/40ZR/19 (F).
Tight turns, cornering, no problem- but, if a hit a minor dip in the road (however unnoticeable) at speed, there is this terrible (but less than 1 second) scrubbing sound that emenated from the front of the car...

I don'tknow if it's the tire scrubbing the fender, or the bottom thing that hangs down on all cars, scrubbing the asphalt.

So, can anyone tell me if these tires are too tall for the car? I thought these tires met the max width requirements for this car. Anyone with the same size tires and a scrubbing problem that they eliminated?

Sadly I'm damn-near certain it's the tires... I never had this problem or heard this sound with the stock 16's on there...

Flat roads- no problem...
I have the same problem like yours and probably only way is replacing front for 35 instead 40! I run on potenza 050A 245/40/19 ,,I bought that set with OEM 167 rims and afterI did install Mtech front bumper same issue like you man.... I'm looking for some replacement soon some used 2x 245/35/19
