My Ride: My ex-ride: EU '08 LCI 520dA. Space Grey, Sport Seats in Black Leather/Fabric Anthracite, Sport Steering Wheel, A/C with Extended Features, Hi-Fi Speakers, Cup Holders, Cruise with Braking function, Folding Rear Seats, Xenons, Park Distance Control.
What articles vern???
For sure RF tyres are a safty measure in many ways,
but at least my car's chassi do not cope with them.
Actually all E60 should ride with 225/50 17" wheels on them.
In BMW measures the sports cars are branded M!

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't all E60's with the Sports Package have the suspension designed around the RFT's and 18" wheels

My Ride: '04 545iS 6 spd, bought new via eBay, 11/05; Blk/Gry, Cold, L7, PDC, BMW Rear seatcover for pets.
First "Bumwa" was a new 1971 2002. High performance 5s since 1987. Beamer motorcycles too, currently on an 07 BMW K1200 GT; also a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP III.
Sorry, but there was nothing in that article to convince me of their benefits...especially cost/benefit. The idea of bragging that RFTs will be the ONLY fitment for new models is arrogant and troubling, and recalls to me the screwing I took continuously with Michelin TRX metric-sized tires and wheels fitted to my 87 535iSport 5 speed. Don't get me wrong, they were good tires, and probably the first low-profile high-performance units on the retail market. My objection was their exclusive fitment, and of course with a metric WHEEL size, you were a prisoner of the BMW-Michelin agreement.
In fact, I wonder what guys do with restored models (635s too). I'd guess those TRXs are rare birds at this point.
Contrast those repairable, comfortable, performance models with my Dunlop RFT recent experience, and it's not good. That BMW admits that the new models will have suspension designed around the tires is admitting that by default, they installed inappropriate tires on our cars; in the interest of I know not what (but I suspect they get them near-free from the tire makers that are assured of BMW cache and repeat business).
Sorry, but I 'm not willing to play, especially at those prices. The idea of a $425 tire being unrepairable is simply inexcusable in my book.
