Hi!
I purchased a 2010 535i xDrive with just 20K miles on it. Now it has about 23K miles on it.
In the iDrive I see that my
Front brakes have 7K miles to go
Rear Brakes have 11K miles to go
Engine Oil has 13K miles to go
Brake oil has till 7/2013

My question is that the numbers have not changed since I bought this car.. except the Oil which was at 14K miles and now after 3Kmiles of driving has come down by 1K miles to 13K miles

Does the front brake, Rear brake and Engine oil have sensors or it is based on some time calculation??
Either way time or miles (I have done 3K miles in 3 months) these numbers should be going down right?? I am confused on how this works..
Thanks for your inputs.. I did search the forum but got no straight answers..

To answer your questions everything you ask do have sensors but the "countdown" also goes by how you drive the vehicle. If you drive the car hard the oil countdown will go faster also with braking if you are hard on the brakes. Your rear brakes will always count down slower than front ones.

THe front Brake pad counter went upto 8K miles now... Also I changed the oil recently and did not reset anything... the oil counter went down to 12K miles... Strange are the logic of these sensors

I would have the front brake senor checked out if it it going up instead of down. With the oil the counter it will continue counting down until it is reset. When you change the oil make sure you reset it. If not it will continue counting down then go into the negatives.
