Definately normal after key off extended period of time (after electronics go into sleep mode). Short key off durations and HVAC setting remains unchanged.

 

I too just bought a clean 2004 545i today and was able to configure that in the iDrive system, you can set it to auto or time delay, coming from a 528i e39 I have alot to learn

 

Any suggestions for my first upgrades/mods...

"Norcalive" try selecting on the Multiquote tab on the bottom right corner of the individual member who commented that would like to respond to and then scroll down to the bottom of the thread and select add reply tab then it should allow you to replay to those commented to your message. Just some pointers in using the fourm utilities.
