The car has 70k miles on it.
It is currently driving me nuts. It also started pulling to the right

My Ride: 2008 BMW 535i Silver - E60
Hi Guys,
I have been driving my car for 2 or 3 months now and it keeps bugging me.
When driving in the city or country side roads, the steering wheel is very sensitive to the tracks in the road. When the white lines are on the road have just been redone and i drive over it with, i feel the steering wheel shake/vibrate.
On the freeway, even the slighest bit of wind or when passing a truck, i need both hands on the wheel to keep it straight. I am almost constantly making corrections to keep it in a straight line
I have not experienced any clunks or other type of play in the steering.
What do notice; I also drive VW Golf. When driving, if i let the steering wheel go, it always pulls itsself back to a straight line by itsself. My BMW does not do this. I always need to steer it back to a straight line myself. Is this normal?

I did have an alignment. Right after alignment, the steering wheel got better handling; after couple days, the same feeling comes back, feel like the front wheels are losing control. I guess simple alignment won't fix the problem. But sending back to the stealer for a full inspection on the whole suspension merely sounds stupid.
I am also waiting for an answer....

Infin8, can you tell us more details about what you did to the front lower control arm bushing? Thanks. I had a mechanic checked on the front suspension while the alignment, but he didn't find anything. Only one alignment is not gonna help fix this. Our cars have three control arms on each wheel, right? I guess, by looking at it, we can't detect any problem on the control arm.
I had this done to my e60 2-3 weeks ago under warranty and its a night and day difference.

I am installing Koni FSD shocks at this moment.
Also replacing number 13 while i am at it. I saw a little play it when moving one of the front wheels left and round by hand.

BMWs have a good deal of positive caster up front.
This can contribute to the "meandering" feeling you describe if you're not used to it. Not sure about the VW, but likely not as much as the BMW.

I'd start with ensuring that front and rear tires are inflated according to the label on the driver-side door post. It's surprising that even dealers over or under-inflate tires. A few (2-3P psi) is OK - MORE or LESS is not!
Next ensure wheel alignment is correct.
Last = look for worn suspension parts - control arm bushing wear outs are notorious!
