I understand that safety modifications are already done...
I doubt that LEDS cud be significant reason for such a delay of M5 launch...
New engines do not concern M5 at all.

Nope.. that VIN number goes against the traditional BMW VIN sequence... well the important part of the VIN isnt traditional...

Digit 8: which tells us the restraint system is a 0 it should be 1 to 5... I have a 5 in mine...

Digit 10: Tells us what year the car is... it has a 0 I have a 5 telling me its a 2005

Last 6 Digits: Is sequential but Its waaaaaaaaaaaay off from my VIN and my cars a Nov 11 2004 Build...

Can anyone else check their VIN to varify how accurate this decoding system is?
My vin is B610901 and its build august 11th 2004. So that would mean that there are 179921 cars build after mine since the modifications in about 3 months. If your correct that would be a lot of E60's in such a short time.

But it clearly states that the modifications have be there since:

VIN and date when rating applies WBANA72080 B790822

Humm thats odd... see my VIN is B088XXX, I wonder if its because mines a US car... making the LHD and RHD numbering different... either that or it has rolled over already!

What is your 10 digit? a 4?

August 11th 2004 build? I thought the plant is closed for the entire month of August!

the safety features were not completed prior to the pre-production of the M5s that are being used in the promos, and shows etc, so that was PART of the delay with the M5

then, what I said was that whatever external change is happening to the MY06 E60s is going to be incorporated into the M5, and this was also PART of the reason for the M5 delay, and this is out of the President of M-Division's mouth, not mine, anyone can read his interview if you like

finally, I said that in the early spring, the E60 will get new engines, and there has been talk that BMW may bump up the model year due to this. If this happens, then we will see the external change in the spring as the new cars in the US would be MY06's

OK Guys my VIN is WBANB33545B088830

The car was built on October 8, 2004, and is equipped with the rear side airbag option. In following the build of the car, I saw numbers all over the place, and not in any logical sequence, so when you figure out a way to decipher this, I will be interested. :'(
