Any idea what modifications are to be introduced to e60 for the begining of 2005?
I have read that the head of BMW M division Mr. Bruhnke in an interview mentioned that they are delaying the start fo production of M5 to Spring 2005 because they want to incorporate coming modifications of e60.

they are delaying the M5 partly due to something 'physical' being done to the exterior of the E60 for MY 06 cars that they wanted to incorporate into it...I happen to think (and HOPE) it will be a fix to the rear light assembly, possibly like the update to the E39 where the tail lights became LED's...this makes the most sense since as of MY 06, the E60 would be the only new BMW not to have LED's in the rear as the new E90 has them...
Also, if you are thinking of buying and not leasing, there is the new R6 engine for the 530i that will become available probably around summer time, since it is scheduled for production into the E60 after the release of the E90 330i...
Im in the US and waiting on both of these upgrades, as well as waiting on the M-Sport pkg, which is currently not available here

Correct, good idea waiting..the new R6 engine will be fantastic.
I hope the new rear LED lights for the E60 ( if in fact that's coming ) - can be retrofitted onto our cars as well...

The biggest modification seems to be associated with the rear tire pressures...

Igor,

Cosmetically...... they have added additional wood trim to the lower part of the dashboard:

The rumour is that the M5 is being delayed as BMW are re-engineering part of the body impact protection of the 5 series to improve their NCAP crash ratings. I don't know what part of the structure is being enhanced though.

....That is part of it, but if you read the entire interview you will see that Mr. Bruhnke explicitly states that there will be a visible exterior change to the entire E60 line for MY 06, not just the structural modifications for the crash ratings...we'll have to wait a little more to see how it works out

Nobody at BMW is wiiling to talk about this, so I guess there IS some kind of problem.
I just threatened to return the car and file a lawsuite, so now they want to provide me with some crash-test info on the E60.
This is getting ridiculous.

Do you ever go to BMWUSA website? I was beginning to get concerned about this crash test report, as I am still waiting for a few options to become available in the US before I place my order, but then I checked up on it today, and I was suprised that they have a picture of the E60 right on their home page under the section "Safety Ratings" and this is the quote:

?Every BMW ever tested received our highest rating?-Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

The IIHS institute in the US is similar to NCAP, and if you go to the website you will see what their test results were as the give the E60 their best buy rating which is their highest....some interesting reading
