[quote name='igor' date='Nov 24 2004, 10:24 AM']Any idea what modifications are to be introduced to e60 for the begining of 2005?
I have read that the head of BMW M division Mr. Bruhnke in an interview mentioned that they are delaying the start fo production of M5 to Spring 2005 because they want to incorporate coming modifications of e60.

My vin is B610901 and its build august 11th 2004. So that would mean that there are 179921 cars build after mine since the modifications in about 3 months. If your correct that would be a lot of E60's in such a short time.
But it clearly states that the modifications have be there since:
VIN and date when rating applies WBANA72080 B790822

Taking the words of the head of M5 division about the coming modifications to E60 next year for granted and assuming the information in relative threads about the already implemented in MY2005 cars changes (due to NCAP test) is correct, one shud come to a conclusion that the modifications spoken about by the BMW official are something else than safety enhancements....
Any pros or contras appreciated...

i assume you are speaking of Mr Bruhnke's interview about the M5 and the reasons for its delay
... besides the safety modifications, he notes that there will be something changed to the exterior of all E60's for MY06 that is noticable that they wanted to incorporate into the M5
speculation has been that it will be LED's in the rear like the way the E39 changed with its facelift as this is something very noticable, but could be retrofitted to the current design without any changes except software

...we'll have to wait a few months till the M5's are delivered to find out if its true, or possibly if the MY06 E60s get bumped up to April 05 production when the new engines are available...
