DD 545i, have you been aware of this "trick" for the last 23 years?

I've known about this since my first Bimmer in '97, but I have never been able to figure out why I need it. I mean, Ok, so I'm parallel parked adjacent to the sidewalk and there are cars in front and back of me. Why do I want to stand out with my "parking lights" on, and how long can I have them on before I need to call AAA for a jump?

Bteljuice, I did as you described and it worked as you said. Thanks for the instructions. UUronL, thanks for the details. Any idea on a safe timeframe? Will you do a time trial and post your results?
I occassionally park on South Beach which has limited parking and often requires precarious parking on the street. I would love to use this option... but not if I come back to a dead car ![Frown](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/sad.gif)
