Really? I have to respectfully disagree with "make it perfect for long trips".. I drove my 545 to Wisconsin in February (14 hours each way), and I had trouble staying awake both ways. I could only describe it to my friends as "trying to drive a recliner". I had to jack the seats all up funny and make it uncomfortable so I wouldn't snooze off.. I guess there is such a thing as TOO comfortable..
What's your normal seating position? Semi reclined? The seat should be set to give good upright support. Less fatigue will make you less drowsy.

PS: Driving a recliner should be a comment about a '76 Olds 98, not a BMW.

Good for you. I picked up my "new" 545I IN St. Louis, MO. last week too. The 8.5 hour drive to Atlanta was awesome and I never felt sleepy for a second. The last time I drove my Lexus for such distance, I had to hand it over to my wife.

There's a cure for that. The unrestricted sections of Autobahn ;-) The adrenalin of driving at 150 certainly prevents sleepiness :-)
Autobahn? I just drove 150mph on a highway from San Antonio to Ft. Worth.

Oh come on, it was in the middle of the night and if you are familiar with the I35 then you know that there is a 40-mile stretch just before Alvarado, TX, that is as straight as an arrow. Its Texas for ya!

Oh I understand TEXANS (I have family back there too), I was just having fun in regard to 150 mph on the highway! I'll bet it was QUITE a thrill!

Man, what seats do you guys have? Not sure exactly what our seats are but the car has sport package, premium package, and leather seats. I hate them. Bottoms are too stiff and create pressure points. The back, even when the lumbar is fully deflated, pushes against my back too much. I don't feel like I'm sitting IN the seats... instead, I'm sitting ON them. IMO, they suck. I seriously have been uncomfortable after a 30 min drive. I couldn't imagine 12 hours. FWIW, I'm only 6ft, 180lb.
