i thought about doing that but i need to ashtray to charge my phone.
Excellent point Nelson and one that slipped my mind until you mentioned it.

I've been in constant communication with Patryk and will likely send off a down-payment today. We also need to determine if the FSC codes will work with my car. Patryk has also offered to get all additional components I need from his local BMW dealership to make this install complete. Providing its cost effective, I'm likely to go this route so that its a one-stop-shop.

Nelson,
Good luck with you install and coding! Let us know how it goes and post some pics if you are able to.

P.S. Is there a how-to on taking the dash and console apart for this install? Rather than doing this blindly it would be great to see how it should be done in order to avoid breaking any clips etc.

To avoid confusion i'm gonna list an up to date P/N needed for the retrofit.

2004-2007 Pre-LCI owners that are cool with keeping their current idrive controller.

CCC Owners:

61119185171 CIC HD Screen cable
61319167196 USB Port
61129196805 USB Port cable
51456976361 CIC Center trim
61136954526 CID CAN/power connector

M-ASK Owners:

61119185171 CIC HD Screen cable
61319167196 USB Port
61129196805 USB Port cable
51456976361 CIC Center trim
61136954526 CID CAN/power connector

You will also need a CCC center that goes under the CIC trim
This how it looks, its #15but you have to get your correct wood color.

Pre-LCI owners will also need to change the AC console to an LCI one so there wont be no gaps in between the switches.

*** For those who want to use the new idrive controller you will have to remove the armrest, cut around and remove your current idrive controller module.Purchase a new center trim($150-$300)remove the ashtray and relocate it( you will need an LCI ashtray). You will also need a new shifter trim. You will also need to cut where your current ashtray fit to fit the new center trim. You also need to purchase the LCI set of covers that goes under the CIC trim. #16 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...47&hg=51&fg=95
Will also need the the idrive contoller trim and bracket P/N 51169155970, 51169155987 that will have to be source from Europe. Can not be orderred from a North American dealer***

I am in the UK and many posts are US or mid-Europe based so not overly suitable (well Europe is if the price is right...).

I have looked over the net and have located and contacted cartronics as they have done this already (main contributor on the e90post.com forum on this http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=159604) but they are hinting at costs in the region of 5k! given this cost, I am looking at alternate companies to see what I can get this for, but need suggestions as to who can do this?

Now I am not saying this is too much money for what is involved, or implying that they are ripping people off, I am just saying that this seems too much to me and I cannot justify this retrofit so am looking for other alternate quotes.

Can anyone out there give any suggestions, or give feedback on anyone they have used (both good and bad)?

Appreciate any comments and feedback.

Regards
Darron

P.S. absolutely love this forum!
Hello, Did you get the CIC unti in place? I have a 2007 5301 and want a CIC unit as well.
