run flats can be repaired just like any other tyre

To date I have yet to hear one good comment about run flats. It's a good idea to save the weight of a spare tire; but does it worth the extra cost (being non-patchable) and the trade off in ride quality?
Personally I don't think so.

Run-flats on a track help with lap-times - but, why doesn't F1/IndyCar use them and our roads aren't race-tracks

Personally, avoid.

My Ride: e39 525i Touring, will order e61 as soon as I can decide on engine and options...
Ferrari recently introduced RFT as standard equipment so they can not be all that bad. At least there seems to be some product development going on.

Indeed. Run-flat tyres are heavier than normal tyres so some of those savings are lost...

Well guys,BMW is a luxury car so it has to be a comfortable car.But those ran flat tyres have ruined the comfortable feel.I have rided a BMW with those stupid tyres,it is very damn anoyying because of those sounds. But with a normal tyre, really belive me when the car move you cant hear a thing, and those normal tyres and cheap. This is what i think about those tyres.
For me, they did the job they were intended for...
Late at night with family in the car on a busy freeway, I ran over a 3/8 inch broken drill bit. I was able to drive the last 20 miles home without incident and deal with it in the morning.

What do you all think about it?I think Ran Flat tyre is not that usefull. Why?Because ran flat tyre are not comfortable+it makes a lot of unnecessary noises. And you cant mend the tyre when it is been stuck by a pin.So what suggestion do you guys have?

I too once thought runflats were ok. When I went with 166's and had to switch to non-RF I realized how much RF suck and what I've been missing for over 1 yr. The runflats do what they are designed to do (get you home with a nail) but they were not supposed to steal the wonderful drive character of the car -and thats what I think they do - wooden shoes, noise and "flat" all the way  I've had one flat where I could not get home without changing the tire in the last twenty years- I'm not willing to trade performance for peace of mind for something that's such a rare occurance. JMO.
