Thanks Sam for the warm welcome and tips. Maybe you are right, just hop off and back on Soi 71 since I already know what I want. After what Pete had described about the Paragon, I feel like spending more time there looking at cars

MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR,
So how was your trip to BKK !

Digging up old dead threads!! but hey, there's a nother member from Thailand too, chillabolic. Chillabolic, why don't you use this subforum to communicate with all E60 owners? There's quite a few of us now. Lets talk here, its better than in the Group Buy forum.

Hey sorry for the late reply. The trip was good, my main objective met with ease, traffic in bangkok that day had been very forgiving. After Erawan I went to Paragon to gawk at those exotic cars and bought some stuffs at MBK. Had a good foot rub at Lek next to Novotel before heading back to the airport. No time to visit those accesories shops that you and Pete had recomemended. Nevertheless, fruitful trip indeed
Good for you, So when r u coming next, hope you will make it this time,
Good Luck
Hey guys, I'm in Bangkok too, I just ordered a black 520d today and will be getting it soon! I used to have a E34 525i and it was awesome.
Just a few questions, though, I have a lot of modding in mind for the car:
1) Power upgrades. Are there any local distributors of the power chips and similar mods? Hamann also has a boosting kit, is there an official distributor here? How about the throttle booster thing, does it make a noticeable difference?
2) Bodykits. Earlier in this thread I saw someone recommending Autosport for original and replica kits, is that place still any good? Is there a big difference in quality between replica and original kits?
3) Rims. 20" or nothing! Any good places for the Hamann (20th anniversary) or Breytons? Estimated prices for original ones?
Khob khun and long live the E60!

The reason is due entirely to the fact that they had a stockpile of CKD kits at the factory. They don't need any assembly line changes as they already assemble the E90 325i at Rayong (with 218ps Valvetronic engine). Notice that the old engine is a Thai-special with 2.4 displacement, which was designed for the now defunct tax rules.
If u buy a new CKD 525i or 520i in Thailand, then it's still 2005MY if compared to other markets. They hadn't changed to the start button nor leather-topped i-drive controller.

link: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=39135 this replaced my E39 3.2 Schnitzer, again all original parts. Did the BMW driving experience at Utapao Airport a few months ago, drove all models even 645 with SMG, best was the 330, and believe it or not - the 730... Active steering is the worst on any car, but in Thailand you get it standard on the 5 series, had to really push to get it removed from mine! Told the dealer would not buy the car with active steering. Took 4 months to get it. All M5 parts you see are from BMW direct. M5 brakes front & rear going on next week. What an addiction... Cheers Ted / Siracha, Thailand
