Thanks for the input. I have test-driven the 325 coupe, and I feel the IS250 is a better car overall. I have not test-driven the 335 though. And I also have one very good reason why I would not buy a 335. Simply because, for the similar reason, that there is one car called the M3

And would you buy a 335, or an IS250 with a 3-door GTI thrown in for free? Since the 335 costs as much as the latter 2 cars combined.

I can't agree more with Storm's comments, Japanese cars, including Lexus, generally give driver the numb feel. I don't really feel the road, it seems that there is something in-between. But perhaps thats the comfort that Lexus is trying to differentiate itself with its German competitors. And yes, the dials are kind of small, but I feel it beats the BMW's boring orange. I am not implying that you are old but I am still young enough to see the numerals, and I favour the IS250 versus my current 'Ah Pek' 520i

With less than $150k, is there any other car that beats IS250? 6-cylinders are a must. After having driven the 520, I don't think I want to go back to a front wheel drive. VW R32 was the obvious choice until I visisted Borneo Motors. Damn, I should have followed Ed, avoiding all temptations to test the IS. Very confused now

They share the same engine. I was a passenger when my friend drove to KL. The suspension is too soft for my liking. Speed limiter set at 180. Interior is typical Toyota, nice but no teutonic feel. MarkX is an ok car, and thats the reason why I did not test drove it when it first hit the market.

Dear all,

Some question from another E60 owner living in Singapore.

Wondering if anyone could share their advice on following mods for E60
1. Sports steering wheel - what's the pricing like to get one installed, replacing the standard steering?
2. Rims upgrade - what's the feeling like after upgrade to 18" rims (245/40)? Is there a significant loss of comfort? Worth the trade-off for better handling?
3. Sprint booster - is this useful? where can get this installed?

Wishing all a Happy New Year and safe driving in 2007!

The sports steering wheel will set you back around $2,300, you need to replace the airbag as well, thus the higher cost compared to the threes. I am on 18", no loss of comfort, but I am sure some loss of power.

I was at the brink of getting the sprint booster, but after reading all 32 pages in BMW.SG forum, I decided against it. The sprint booster merely amplify the acceleration, the engine will become more responsive. However, it does not make your car more powerful nor does it create more horses. Like a volume control of a stereo, would you rather having a wide range of volume from 7 to 5 o'clock, or having the volume maxed out at 12 o'clock position? I want better control over my accelerator, thats why I decided to save $400. But there are many who swear by the benefits. I suggest you go BVO and try it.

I only know people buy from PML, I am not sure if it is the lowest. You might want to ask your salesperson to buy for you, he/she might be able to get 20-25% off.

Make sure you get the one you want..... the M Sports Steering Wheel is about $900 (w/o GST and w/o airbag)... the M5 Steering Wheel is about $3.5k and comes with paddle shifts..... this price also does not include the air bag which cost about $1.5k.....

In my opinion, if you are opting for the M Steering Wheel, might be worthwhile to look at the M5 one.....

Good luck hunting.....

Or you can buy the M5 paddleshift steering from me! I have 1 completely new with airbag & retrofit kit on the way to S'pore.

I recently 'modded' my steering....

Looks good, want to mod might as well mod all the way. How much total, including installation (can BVO do it?) and wiring of the paddle shifts?
