Nuvi acted up on Robinsons Road and some parts of Sheton Way. Apparently reception around high rise buildings arent too good. Nuvi's routing went haywire. Has anyone of you experienced the problems I faced in town? Considering buying the external antenna now. RSLK, how did you mount the external antenna? Did you have to cut any holes in your ride to mount the antenna?
If you are using 3M films... no need... just mount it to the top right hand corner of your inner windscreen... remember to have the black curved part facing outside... To get even better accuracy and even faster lock, try mounting it on top of the EXTERIOR of your A pillar... they can run the antenna wire thru the door and via the rubber flaps... Just make sure your Wing Flaps are not adjusted...

RSLK,
Nice work.
I just bought the idrive controller and would arrive sometime next week. It would eliminate the remote controller that we are using. This module enables the iDrive knob to switch between video source instead of the current method which we are using through the remote controller.
Tell us more about this iDrive controller module... how does it look like... is it from BMW? How much? What does it do? etc etc... I also dun like the 3 remotes.. to confusing...

It's from the same idrive video interface manufacturer. It can eliminate one remote controller, ie idrive video interface. The one that I bought uses right click on the idrive to toggle the video source. Eg, first click select TV tuner source. second click IPOD video source, third click Nav ( for those who had installed stock navigation) and fourth click BMW video source. It is a round robin selection just like the idrive video remote controller.

This is what I had gathered, would post more details when installed. It is a good mod if the product delivers as specified. The is inexpensive.

nice work richard. i like the apple controller mod.

the 2 RK buttons. why do you need 2?

the picture quality doesnt do your mod justice
RSLK,
I agree with bugaboo. You need a 8-10M digital camera to do you justice. You want any lobang?

When I was travelling along Robinson Rd towards Fullerton, the Garmin kept showing I was on Cecil St. And the next thing was no more satellite signal.

Ext anthena for our GPS are quite cheap, I bought mine from Eastgear for S$60. Will it work under the shark fin? Won't the fibre glass block the GPS signals?

Will you still have the lobang to buy the video and iPod control from Billy? I'm thinking of installing these with reverse camera, new BMW iPod interface & ICE once and for all. Do you know if this new iPod interface is available yet? Will have to call PML if its available now....

Lai,
Are you sure we can mount antenna within the Shark's Fin? I read in some thread that this cannot be done. My only concern is asthetics!

Yankee,

How is your testing of the Garmin Sing/J.B map so far?
