I bought the Tibo and returned it for a full refund - due to the same reasons you cited. Elecom tried to pacify me by offering free external antenna, memory cards, etc. Now I'm using Nuvi 360 with malsingmaps which is much much better.
Where did you get your Nuvi 360? We could only get the older 300 in Singapore now...

if we buy a nuvi from the US, is there a way to load in the Garmin Singapore/Malaysia maps which are more detailed than the Malsingmaps?
I'm not sure if Garmin singapore/malaysia maps are more detailed more malsingmaps, but if you have a nuvi from US/Europe you should purchase SD card version of Garmin Singapore/Malaysia maps which you can just insert into the Nuvi.

I bought from expansys.co.uk for about 400 pounds. You avoid paying 17.5% VAT by shipping to Singapore. Courier charge is about 20 pounds. You'll get it in a week.

You had been very patient to wait for 1hour20mins. I was fuming after 40mins, and pressed the reception (firmly and not hiding my displeasure). Then I got to see him.

I have heard of the limited updates but whether 13 or not I don't know. If the whole thing is Non-volatile memory base, it has limited write cycle life span. But 13 is way too short just because of this. There must be something else.

I won't want to update the software if I do not have any issues either. That's for sure. I got rear locking problems after I asked for an update to remove the silly lawyer's screen. And I think people tend to give a reason for them to update the software because BMW says it's not free ... even during warranty period.

Didn't follow your story on the cigarette issue; so don't quite understand. But I am disgusted with the claim that internal parts are excluded in the warranty. Is this stated anywhere? Small prints? Even small prints are debateable now even in Singapore.
Basically all E60 (all cars in fact) has a 12V power socket (which doubles up as a Cigarette Lighter). PML is saying that that socket is ONLY meant for lighting up a cigarette and NOTHING else. It SHOULD NOT be used to power up gadgets such as a phone or GPS or iPod.

Mine had been broken twice as each time you try to pull out the charger, the entire socket dislodges... to me this is a fundamental design flaw. And now they say, after the 2 year BMW warranty, the 3rd year PML warranty does not cover anything "interior of the car". I question this as we were (1) never told about the UNUSABLE 12V power socket and ; (2) the warranty exclusions

Cool! How long have you had the 360? How do you solve the problem of not having the Sing/Mal maps with the original package?

Have had the 360 for about 2 wks. To load Malsingmaps, you can use PatchIMG (its a software program) to load the malsingmaps and upload to the Nuvi. However as highlighted at the malsingmaps forum, everything works fine except the 'Search by address' function, which they are looking to solve the issue. I've heard that the Garmin Singapore/Malaysia is fine though...

Would the SD card from say a older C320 map for Singapore/JB work for the Nuvi 360? Does the malsingmaps have individual HDB block numbers?

I will try to return the TiBo... who did you managed to speak to the last time? Thanks!

malsingmaps does not have HDB block numbers. The roads and POIs are very updated though. Spoke with a Mr. Mah from Elecom last time... I still have the email trial with me...

There's a way to view the malsingmaps from your PC... visit their website to download it to preview it...
