[quote name='zag' date='Jul 20 2005, 02:38 AM']seriously... need to find out if the bmw orig sport suspension is good enough vs. those after market kW or bilstein. I am plunging some dough into this so don't want to regret.

Are you thinking about the Sport Suspension or M Technic Suspension? How much are the parts?
I'm guessing you have the 'free gift' DD since you were one of the early adopters of the Bangle box?

I can only fit the sport suspension coz that is the matching part number for DD equipped ride called out in the configuration matrix. To maintain warranty I can't insist on M-tech sport suspension. They cost around 3.3k w/ labor.

just having fun picking on toto/eggz and edlee since they will be lapping up sepang.

I wasn't aware that I had the honour of posting #1000, and #2000. It's 03h15 here in San Diego, so I earned the right to #3000.

Off to beddy bye now. Another big day of shopping for mods coming up, so I need some zzzz's.

I was not aware that DD equipped cars can only take the Sports Suspension. Quite a few US e60's with Sport Package (comes with DD) have changed their Sports Suspension to Eibach, Bilstein, and kW parts with no problems. I'm surprised that the M Technic Suspension doesn't work with DD.

Hah! I meant I was the 1000th; 2000th message poster. Could have been a hat trick.

The M sport suspension could have worked with DD, just that in the part list database M-sport does not get linked to DD option. I guess the M5 itself won't need DD.

Djohni,
Sorry to have broken your streak. There's always 4k, 5k, and 6k, right?

The M Technic suspension comes on the Euro Sport package, and is not the same as the M5 suspension, which is a totally different animal. Just like M5 bodykits are different from M Sport bodykits. M5's will not have DD, nor active steering at all.

I'm pretty sure the M Technic or M Sport suspension should work with DD equipped cars. But for the same price, you get much better performance from a set of coilovers like the Bilstein PSS9.

Sorry it took so long to reply; I was on the phone with Zag.

Are you talking about a BBK like the Brembo Gran Turismo Front and Rears? According to Dave Zeckhausen, the install time is 2 hrs for the fronts, and 3 hrs for the rears because the rear dust shield has to be slightly modified. The kits come with braided steel brake lines, so no worries about pedal modulation.

The PSS9's are not out yet for the E60, but may I suggest the H&R Coilover Suspension Set that I am thinking of getting for myself? Easy install too, main problem is deciding the ride height and degree of rebound firmness.

What time frame were you thinking about? Before PML's trackday next Friday? If so, I may be able to help you on the latter.

Let me know ASAP, no kidding.

toto, i'm able to get brembo brakes in a good price for you if you're interested. My buddy owns a bodyshop there and is a dealer of brembo too.
