I dont even know how to turn it on or off, is it connected to the rear window button blocking through the buttons front drivers' side? or mechanical in the door itself like older cars

The child locks are still mechanical also, I haven't tried it either, but I suspect the pull that opens the door wont actually work, just as it wouldn't on a conventional child lock system.

The double pull thing is purely mechanical within the door itself. The first pull unlocks the door, the second pull opens it.
