No regrets at all! I love my 545! I put almost 100 miles on per day so the odometer is racking up quickly. I am a bit worried about the amount of travel I do and the wear on the car. I will continue to have all the maintenance done and hope nothing major happens.
And as stated earlier, Camaro v BMW = minor league v the Bigs.

yep. i regret it, every g**d*mn day. my previous ride was a 300zx twin turbo. had 145k on it when i gave it away, only defect it ever had was a clutch slave cylinder. it still had the original turbos and ran like new. gotta love mobil synthetic!
is there one turbocharged bmw on this earth that can make a reliability claim like that? doubtful.
big, heavy, overcomplicated , unreliable pig, $26k less in my savings acct..... are the words that come to mind when i drive mine.....so yeah i regret it!

I guess my answer would be yes and no. Previously, I owned 2 vehicles; a 2006 Saleen 281SC and a 2008 Nissan Altima. The Saleen was my performance car and it kicked ass. 550 HP, handled great and was a blast to take through the twisties. But I never drove it. Always worried about getting hit, constantly getting followed by cops when I did drive it, worried about parking it and getting dinged. So I never really enjoyed the car...The Altima was my DD, and just that. Great MPG, cheap to own and drive and was reliable..After selling the Saleen, and only having the Altima, I went into a severe depression...So since I was only going to own ONE car, I figured I should get something that was comfortable for the family, at least a 6-cyl, since the Alitma was a 4, and was a cross between luxury and performance.
I initially looked at and was planning to buy a 2010 G37, but got discouraged by the dealers. So I looked at a Lexus..Big mistake...then out of the blue decided to stop at the BMW dealer one day at lunch and saw the blue 528i I own now. Love the car, love the color. Don't love the lack of HP. At the time I bought it, the dealer had two cars, the one I own now and a similaraly equipped 2008 535i with about the same miles (25K). After reading a ton of forums and some of the issues with the x35 cars, I decided to play it safe...not my wisest choice.
After owning the 528i for ~3 weeks, I spoke with the used car sales manager at BMW and told him that if a CPO 08 535 comes in to call me first..I just hope that if this happens they don't bend me over the barrel too badly on the trade in (like one of the other guys on here had happen).

My last car was a base model Chevy Cavalier 2Door so..... NO REGRETS LOLOLOLOLOLOL
The power doesn't bother me because reliability is key for me. I didn't buy this car to race it.

My Ride: 2008 550I LOADED, all options except HUD and NV
I went from an SRT8 Jeep Grand Cherokee to my 530, and I couldn't be happier. For one thing the SRT got 9 mpg!!!! It cost me $750/mo in gas alone. My 530 gets 20 city and on long drives it easily gets 35-37 mpg. I don't regret it at all. American cars are crap, even though I loved the power of the SRT (around 490 rwhp) the details were shit, trim was loose after 1 week, dash was made of worse plastic than cheap kids toys, and don't get me started on the leather and alcantara in that friggin thing. Yeah, the Hemi is the only thing I miss about that car. I love the smell of the leather in my 530, it's perfect.
Add to that the people I've met from this forum with my 530 and I will definitely be in a BMW for a long, long time to come.

If i had to do it all over again. I most likely would not buy my wife's 545i. It's still under warranty and only has 45k miles but I feel like these cars always have issues, hoeses, waterpumps, sensors etc. My experiences suggests Mercedes makes a more reliable car.
I do enjoy the styling and power, even though it isnt as quick as my CLK500.

so guys i'm 6 months in with my E60. i had an LS1 2000 Camaro Z28 before this car and it was a BEAST. i test drove the 550i, 535i, and 530i and nothing compared, but i wanted a luxury car with a warranty, and IMO BMW was the only way to go. i had my Z for 7 years and i live in a dense part of DFW and just could not drive my car the way i wanted, not to mention i had so many damn problems every month with my Camaro i had to give it up. i've always wanted a BMW but overall i'm shocked that i am not as satisfied as i should be.
i love my 530i, i love bmw, but i think there are some serious drawbacks. speed is a big one for me, but that's negligible since i did buy a sedan. but my MPG sucks ass for an I6, my Z was getting 16mpg and it was 11 years old!
i dunno, maybe i'm just a sport's car kind of guy. i feel like the E60 offers the luxury i wanted. i think if i got 20mpg in the city, i'd be okay with it. i know this is a dumb post considering i get 16mpg and that's what i am bitching about, but for the speed and coolness of my Z, i just think it had a better enjoyability factor.
let me know your experiences.

I hear this a lot, I came from a high horsepower car and my 525, 530 is too slow. Didn't these guys do any research on what kind of power a 525/530 produces? Seems fairly obvious that if you go from a 400hp car to a 300hp car you're going to notice. Exactly why I picked up the 545i.
