Also I'm still not convinced that you don't have a fuel pump relay . I know my car does ,, so I think you should confirm this to be 100% sure ...

as far as I could tell, I do not have a fuel pump relay, 2006 530xi 5/2005 manufactured date... I pulled what I believe you thought was the relay, and fuel pump continued to prime. I don't think this is fuel pump related because as I have said after I pulled the fuel pump fuse, the amperage continued to rise every minute, and only after I pulled the air bag / diagnosis fuse, did the amperage go down to where it should be, and it didn't rise every minute.
As for the bonet switch, what is that and where can I find it?

yeah sorry its a UK-ism .. hood switch. I havnt had an issue with them on e60's but I have had two x5's with battery drain issues and both were the hood switch. for some reason when the hood switch activates it primes the fuel pump. indeed anything capable of waking up the body gateway will probably prime the pump. so the pump and its relay will be a symptom and not the cause if you get me. sadly an awefull lot of things can probably wake that module lol

Just thinking out loud...do you have comfort access? You know, the thing where you can just leave the key fob in your pocket and open the door? The comfort access door handles are sometimes known for misbehaving. Typically this may be draining the battery or otherwise not letting the car sleep properly. Possibly yours thinks someone is touching the door handle and maybe this causes the fuel pump to prime?
