I flew out to TX to get this car. I bought it and 15 minutes later the windshield randomly cracked. I turned around went back to the dealership raised hell told them I didnt want the car and got a taxi back to the airport. I went back to FL talked to my bank and they refused to cancel the check. I had to have the car shipped out to FL (at the dealers expense) with a broken windshield.

Luckily, in FL, windshield can be fixed with no deductable, no BMW windshield for free. I spoke with 2 attorneys and there was nothing I could do. The carfax had an accident report on it, but stated that the airbags were not deployed, so I figured it was a fender bender.

I dont think I will ever buy a used car again..

there is a can of gas and a match screaming that cars name.

i think you will see that you have a long road ahead of you, that road will have a flat bed truck with a 5 series on the back.

Smoak, good for you for seeing this thing through and taking care of the problem. $4k is still way less than the difference to buy a new car.

Whether the straightening works or not, the results will be interesting. It's not often I use the term "pioneer"- but you're heading into uncharted waters. Hopefully we'll learn something from this and find out if the frame can be repaired on one of these cars.

So does the car track straight? Does it drive ok? Did you put the original suspension parts back in?

Smoak,

I don't think you should never buy a used car again, you should just stay away from cars that have been in accidents or re-painted in any way. There are thousands of these cars and for you to even get one from a thousand miles away, I just don't understand.

I don't know what you paid for it, but even if it was $5,000 to $10,000 less than what a comparable CPO in you area cost, it's still not worth it. Just add this repair, plus air fare, plus expenses and your time and you can see that you're not far off from a comparable CPO in your area. Good luck with this repair, I sincerely hope it will hold up and keeps you safe.

For your next purchase, I suggest a little more diligence and a little more patience, and you will see that the right car will come along even in your area.

I bought the car with 21,000 miles on it, in July 2008 for $22,000. I have learned alot from this and will definitely never buy anything with an accident report on it. The car drives perfect. I am going to hang onto it for another year and buy another BMW.
