i noticed my car doesnt handle as well as i thought it would. it is all over the place on corners and with DSC deactivated i need to put my skills to the test. can this be blamed soley on the run flats? will changing them out make a huge difference?
Don't know what your expectations are -- Slot car like handing ... Ferrari replacement or a step up from a Kia? As a Sports Sedan, the 535 w/ Sport and with our without RFTs is amongst the best handling in its class.

If you're dissatisfied, I suggest you start with a check on tire pressures and alignment settings.

I agree based on my experiences. I haven't driven a non-sport e60 in quite some time but it seemed fine back then. I have much track experience with an E39 M5, a 650i (with RFTs), and now the 550i (sport pkg, non-RFTs), plus brief track experience with a few other cars including an SMG M3. I didn't like the Bridgestone RFTs on the 650i on track but they did handle well, they just didn't communicate well at their limits. Also the RFTs were scary in the wet.

The base e60 won't feel like a sports car but it certainly should handle and feel better than the vast majority of sedans on the market. I would definitely check tire pressures and alignment. It is also possible that there is a problem with one or more of the RFT tires (belt isssues, having been run flat too long, etc).

PS: My bone stock 550i with the factory Conti's and now Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics, has the same lap times at the E39 M5, and it had shock, sway bar, and brake pad upgrades. Several years more experience could also play a part but the 550i did amazingly well.

See:
and
. Note session 5 had the fastest laps and max speed (137mph) but session 3 is more fun to watch with less wind noise, the speedometer showing, and passing some slower Porsches. You can skip to 6:00 for the first pass and several clear laps. I do get passed by a faster group later but hang near them for a full lap after that.
