@MRV99 - I was suprised by the price + installation too. The back window shade is very easy to do, however, it will needed some prewired cable to connect the electric motor to the font control panel. However, the problem is the side. I would love to see someone get this done. Even with 30% tint or a bit above that, I still love to have these things in the car.

What is really crazy is this is a $575 option from the factory........ go figure a retro fit which is less than the actual factory package

I cannot say if this is true for BMW but when I was working in the body shop in high school(early 90's), I found out that a lot of the cars wiring harnesses are all the same no matter what the option level or better lack of options, just the switches and what is hooked to them. I added a lot of options to my car back then going to a bone yard and pulling the part or switch, hooking it up and now I had new option. There is a very good chance that the wires for the rear shade are in place, They will just replace the switch panel to one that has the rear shade button, plug in the motor and booya rear shade works.

Please be warned that the factory option is electric but the retrofit is a manual sun shade.

As long as they can get the side windows to look as if the car came out of manufacture that we, I'm happy. The back sunshade, I can order part and do it myself.

I just surf through this accessories BMW website (http://accessories.bmwusa.com/ItemVi...&productId=946). It seems that we are able to add the rear shade even after the car left manufacture without it as an option. Can someone confirm this?

I keep looking at Dinan's avitar picture and can't remember what the question was. Sunshade, slot that it fits in huh what.....
