I just surf through this accessories BMW website (http://accessories.bmwusa.com/ItemVi...&productId=946). It seems that we are able to add the rear shade even after the car left manufacture without it as an option. Can someone confirm this?

it's there, bottom of the second paragraph..."check pricing and availability at your local bmw center". Gotta type in your local zip code. Looks my local dealer is charging $302.50 installed....

Sun Visor

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Keep the rear cabin section protected from sun glare as well as harmful UV rays with rear window and rear side window sun visors.

$145.00
Each price is the suggested retail price and is subject to change. Price excludes installation and taxes. Check pricing and availability at your local BMW Center
@DINAN530I - It's there. They don't call it "rear shade" but "Sun Visor" which includes "rear window and rear side window sun visors". It 's available to almost all 5 series models. I checked both the 08 535xi and the 07 530i. There gotta be someone up here got this done.

Not sure but my car goes in tomorrow, so if this is avaliable on my 04 530i then I will get it done tomorrow. I will post my results and quoted price. Not sure if anyone has done this yet, I have not seen this done as of yet? Surprised as well...

I have this option and would like to see how they do this. I remember when I had my e39, i heard people retrofitting this but it was required to have new rear door panels. To me the price seams a bit low for what they would have to do. Unless they designed all rear door panels(back side of door panel can already hold shade roll) to have the rear shades and would just have to cut the slot for the rear shade and put trim around it. Same would go for the back window shade. Good luck on this.
