I keep my cars 10 or more years. I spend months looking at cars before I buy.
3 years and it goes.

But I should have mentioned I complained about swirls in the paint, so they gave me a complete detailing for free.
oh, boy! $80 for oil change and complete detail? that's a steal ! btw, who "created" the swirls?
Nobody could figure out who 'swirled' the paint, but they did a good job cleaning it up. Now I've got two coats of Zaino on it and it looks phenomenal - when it's clean! I don't know if I can handle another jet black car - everytime I see it I have to wipe a fingerprint or a smudge. Maybe this stage will pass....

Iceman, you should take the car to a top-notch detailing shop. I've been told the clearcoat on BMW's is very tough, and they can polish out anything that's not a really bad scratch. I think that's what they did with mine.

They took out the bird sh*t but now you can see where and how they've used the polish machine... They will correct it, but I will NEVER EVER give them my car again for detailing... You can even tell that they washed it in their car wash with brushes...
Oh man... I'm so pi**ed...
The salesperson was great... and EVERYTHING else at the dealership SUX big time. It's a disaster... Allready filed a complaint with BMW.
As soon as my car is all set I'll switch the dealer and never go back...

i think it's very right. my previous e39 had a big scratch on the trunk (some motherf$%ker keyed it ) and the detail guy could remove most of it. he told me the same thing.
anyway, my carwash experience with the dealer wasn't pleasant, too . my car wasn't that clean when i first picked it up. i took it down last month and one of the assistants offered me a wash. i waited about 90 minutes but it looked worse than the regular carwash machine in the gas station ! the bottom half of my car was still dripping water and the all-weather mat was wet (lucky i have rubber mats) because of his wet shoes . i'm quite sure i won't ask them to detail my car. just a regular not so clean carwash is ok.

My dealer knows that when they have my car they are to keep it inside (if staying overnight) and never to wash it. I know they keep it inside because I will drive by the dealer every so often and check to see if it is indeed inside after they have closed.

Also they never can forget about not washing my car because I made two signs (5"x7") and had it laminated. I attach one to the steering wheel and one next to the gear selector.

Never have had any problems....knock on wood!
