Just out of curiosity, what is the break-in period length for the 535dA?

Thanks in advance

I think you have to keep it cool for the first 2000km's, 3000rpm is enough and is way beyond speed limit anyway. It's a hell of a job but you'll be happy afterwards. After something like 8000km the engine really starts to losen up and gets more powerful on one side and more economic on the other.
good luck.

I floor it now and then with 1200 km's on the odo. Especially when you drive 120 and kickdown it's awesome when kickdown, it shifts to 3rd and pulls hard! Almost feels M3 like.

More important seems to be that You don't drive long periods with cruise on. Engine speed should variable during break-in.

I believe the quality of the d-gas is not the same in North America as it is in Europe, so BMW and other car makers don't want to have their d-cars over here ...
