well you know the bmw symble that comes up on your idrive when you first start the car. well thats all that happens on my 545 today when i started it. it comes on for like 30 sec and all shuts down for 30 sec and over and over. no radio or anything what the heck is going on!!! HELP

I dont get a BMW symbol at startup? It goes straight to the accept screen. Am I missing something? Anyway I hope you get it fixed.

That happenend to me once. But the BMW logo disappeared and then came back just once and the system worked fine after all. Don't forget, it's based on windows. That means sometimes it takes some time because while loading the applications an error occurs. Then system just starts over again. Sometimes you can notice how this system works when you start your car. You see the BMW start up logo, Then you'll see idrive and when you watch the bottom of the screen (the task bar) then you will see how the Radio gets started and it's muted, then you suddenly hear the music, then the phone gets started, etc... It's basically a windows computer. I would really be worried if that happens often. But for now I would park and lock the car, return in about fifteen minutes and start it again. If the problem is solved I would just let my dealer check the system the next time, if the system is still malfunctioning I would have my dealer check it out asap.

 

how come i dont have a bmw startup screen??!! i want one!! :'( any pics of the screen?

oh well i guess its better not having one than having that warning screen on US cars

 

Mine is German spec and doesn't have a warning/accept screen, but the start up screen. I bet you have it too...

 

Mine is US Spec and looks just like Iceman's before it goes to the accept screen.

 

I've never seen a BMW startup screen on my I-drive. Maybe UK spec cars don't have it???
