Thanks to all who have responded to my previous post regarding the 550i Sport.

I still have a few more questions:

1) Opinion on Wheel Options -Which looks best ?: 172m(standard), 166m(Std on M5, can I get the OEM version?) or 128 (available as an accessory for $4000)

2) Is the Anthracite(Black)headliner available on the 550i Sport?

3) What does the Aerodynamic package add to the 550i sport? (listed under accessories)

4) Is the European delivery worth it?

Thanks again,
DocBob

The 550 sports pack comes with the M-Tech Aero kit and the 172 wheels. The best person to ask about Euro Delivery would be member Poleposition (Kerry) He picked up his 550 with Euro Delivery last year. Good Luck!!

The 550 with Msport pack will have the aero and (in Canada) come with the anthracite liner. I put 166s on but they would not do it at the factory despite that I did a factory order. You can buy the 166s in North America for $1500, then you have to sell the 172s...........good luck

172's look stupendous and are the biggest PIA to clean of any wheels I've ever owned.

I've seen the 166's up-close on E60's and they look quite nice as well. I'm not certain about this, but I thought there might be different offsets on 166's?? The ones that I have seen have the more aggressive "M" offset. I don't believe the aftermarket 166's have such an aggressive setting?? Maybe someone here on the forum can jump in on this..

WC, I assumed a new set of OEM 166's would easily be in the $3k-$4k range?

IMHO,

166s are nice. However, research to make sure you get the M6 offset. Makes the difference. Best of the listed choices.

172s are nice. They fill out the edges nicely too. But aren't the nicest rim BMW makes.

128s are cool. Got alittle too much ghetto to them, especially in the larger sizes. I have 18s replica for my winter setup.
The stock 124s are better looking.

Did you mean "Good Luck" selling the 172's or "Good Luck" on the car? If I can't sell them, could I put 19" snows on the 172s? What do posters mean by being sure to get the "M6 offset"? Why M6 vs M5 offset? What is "offset"?
Thanks,
DocBob

The 166s come with 2 offsets , both fit the e60 but the M6 pushes the wheels out a little wider and it is a big favourite among the members here.As for selling the 172s ,the members tend to to be looky loos and will drive you nuts with low ball offers . I sold mine on Craigslist ! and yes you could save he 172 for winter tires. Whatever you do get Axxis dustless brake pads , this the the hands down best mod ,since your wheels stay clean and will be a snap to wash. And there is no performance issues vs OEM
Cheers

Call Garry at BMW of Newport and he will sell you a new set for 1500 , I had mine shipped to Canada and saved over 1200, I actually sold my 172s and made a profit on the whole transaction !
