My 07 530 is an SMG and I don't know if the M5 has this option but I am sure it would be much more exhilarating. While stopped, push the sport mode button and disable the DSC. Now the fun part, if you are familiar with Formula one racing, in some years past the cars were equipped with 'launch control' mode, this allows the driver to just stomp the gas pedal and HOLD it and the car will shift through each gear on its own. The key is not to let go of the pedal or lift, just floor it and hold. Something to behold. The car makes a racket of sound when cycling through each gear and depending on your grip and it could get a little scary but a nice feature for the SMG crew.
