recent CIP versions, (I loose count now I have had so many upgrades) 18-23 completely mute the audio with nav instructions. Now you can hear the music in the background as though your passenger is guiding you.

Not really. I had CIP 21, 23, 24 and now 25 and all of them had the Nav instructions blended with other audio sources.
My NAV ALWAYS muted the music or other audio source until I got 24.xx installed a few months ago. I think my car came with 15.xx originally and then was updated to 19.xx, both of which muted the audio source during the NAV instructions. I did not have any of the versions between 19.xx and 24.xx, so if 21.xx or 23.xx added the blended audio feature I would not have known about it. For me it was 24.xx that activated this feature.

My bad, I was looking in the wrong place, I have the heated seat adjustment screen but not the screen with the oil, brakes etc that tells how many miles left before you need to change them.

I had the screen when I took it in for service and it said the front breaks had to be changed in 21k miles and the rears in 17k miles. The breaks were very noisy so the dealer replaced the front and rear pads and the sensors per a SIB. Software was upgraded due to the cd changer playing after engine was off and a rough idle.

The oil level screen is NA on the 545i. It showed on CIP23 but never functioned. Only 2007s have the hardware for this.

I had my '06 550 upgraded yesterday. I love the improvements. Like others, I find the shift points on my Step much better, much smoother. Other minor things I have noticed that I have not seen others mention:

1. My ipod adaptor is faster. It load the songs much faster, and there is not the long delay while "CD tracks are loading"
2. My ipod keeps playing while I search for other songs. It used to stop playing as soon as I navigated away from the track that was playing to look for a new song.
3. During navigation commands, the nav voice would completely cut out any other audio source (CD, ipod, radio, etc.). Now, the other audio source is softer, but can still be heard as the nav voice talks over it.

Thats all I can think of at the moment, but I will post other things as I notice them
Interesting that people have noted that the audio does not cut out when there is a nav voice prompt. I just had the upgrade, and the audio still cuts out during voice prompts.

No, not the oil level screen, it was the screen that had the mileage before the brakes need to be replaced, oil replacement, brakfluid etc.

A way to confirm: adjust the respective audio levels so that the nav prompt is barely audible and the "hi-fi" is louder than normal.

Then check whether the "whispering" nav is all you can hear wehn it cuts in.

Does anyone have the technical service bulletin (SI for 25.04? I found the SIB for 25.00 but can't find anything newer.

My dealership said they have the 25.01 update but don't know anything about 25.04. If I can show them the service bulletin and SIB # for 25.04, I may make a little headway on ensuring I get the latest update.

They may know it by its "correct" numbering of 25.00.04

The iDrive blank screen problem seems to be fixed. See: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=...15&start=15
