I think so, yes. Mine is manual, I have resisted chipping it because of the on-going saga with the Turbo / ERG which is allegedly cured with CIP25. Did you have the stuttering from 1600 to 2200 revs problem before chipping? Did the chipping cure it and / or did the CIP25 do any good?

Mine is still so slow below 2500 revs it is embarrassing, my g/fs 1.9TDi Audi A4 would blow it into the weeds from low revs. My 5 Series is the only car I have ever had that needs to be in 4th gear for so long but they don't seem to think there's a problem and to be honest I'm too busy to be bothered to take it in and show the tech again. I must try again but only if CIP25 makes a difference.

I've checked the thread again, but could not see anything about improvements to the 520d MANUAL.
I see a lot about improvements to AUTOs and those with PRO Nav systems. Also something about LOGIC7 and Adaptive Xenons being improved, but I'm already more than happy with mine as they are - always room for improvement though.

As I have a MANUAL and BUS Nav, I'm wondering if there is any point upgrading?
It would be frustrating if there turned out to be bugs in the software, because mine has none (visible to me) at the moment.

Mine's going in for a service next Friday, so I could add this upgrade to the list. Any advice - should I do it??

If you are able to do this free then might as well get it done otherwise like you said, don't bother.

I had my '06 550 upgraded yesterday. I love the improvements. Like others, I find the shift points on my Step much better, much smoother. Other minor things I have noticed that I have not seen others mention:

1. My ipod adaptor is faster. It load the songs much faster, and there is not the long delay while "CD tracks are loading"
2. My ipod keeps playing while I search for other songs. It used to stop playing as soon as I navigated away from the track that was playing to look for a new song.
3. During navigation commands, the nav voice would completely cut out any other audio source (CD, ipod, radio, etc.). Now, the other audio source is softer, but can still be heard as the nav voice talks over it.

Thats all I can think of at the moment, but I will post other things as I notice them
Regarding point #3 above, you can control the volume of the Navigation voice by simply turning the volume knob up/down while the navigation voice is speaking. This feature has been working before this update.

True, but earlier CIP versions would mute the audio completely when Nav announcements were made. They now have it blend with the audio as it was back at CIP 12.

My Nav has always blended audio and Nav announcements. Built March 2006 and NOT CIP 12.

ABC,

recent CIP versions, (I loose count now I have had so many upgrades) 18-23 completely mute the audio with nav instructions. Now you can hear the music in the background as though your passenger is guiding you.

Not really. I had CIP 21, 23, 24 and now 25 and all of them had the Nav instructions blended with other audio sources.

On my 2007 530i with iPod adapter, when I listen to any podcast it repeats over and over again, rather than playing the next podcast after the previous one has ended. Was this problem resolved in the v.25 upgrade?

My Ride: Carbon Black 535d Sport. Black Dakota leather, Media and visibility pack with adaptive Xenons. Hi-fi, servotronic, grad tint screen etc etc

The only issue that I have now is that my adaptive xenons are now no longer adaptive! LOL

I did have the dreaded steering clunk sorted out (thicker grease and new bearings) at the same time as the V25 upgrade, so it may be steering column related rather than the software update causing the problem. I'll re-visit the dealer next week and hopefully have the adaptive function turned back on!

Cheers
Matt

Do you have the switch pointing left in the 'auto'-mode?
