I plan to hardwire my Escort 8500 and really appreciate all the suggestions/instructions posted in this forum. Given that the Escort 8500 uses a RJR11 cable how would one splice and attach the really small guage wires from this cable to the car's wiring?
Could someone that has hardwired an Escort share what they used for their installation?
Thanks in advance.

Finally turn the key and make sure the radar powers on. Sometimes the clip on the green/yellow wire may need some additional squeeze. WOALA!.. Put everything together and align the radar how ever you want it. I like it as close to the celing. So far it works perfect front and back.

These instructions were great. It took my no more than 20 minutes to set everything up. I have one problem, I can't get any power to the unit. As Don Juan has said I have squeezed the wire, but still no power. The unit works I had it powered up through the cigarette lighter. Any advice would be great. I'm thinking about cutting the cover of the wire so that it is exposed. But I figure I should ask you guys before I do anything further

great instructions, took no more than 15 minutes to install. Remember, take the green with yellow stripe wire from the bundle going to the passanger side, NOT THE MOONROOF!! The wire is in there, just look for it.

New to this forum and just got a 2007 530xi coming out of a 2002 330cic. I had my V-1 hardwired in my 330 and am looking to do the same in my 530 and found this thread. Great instructions from Don Juan, and before I begin I thought I would check to see if anyone knows if the green/yellow wire from the passenger side is the correct color wire to use in an 07 530? Thanks in advance.

I just got done doing this and it is the green/yellow wire coming from the rain sensor. Took me less than 10 minutes!

WOOT! I'm rapidly making this Bimmer my own. V1 is hardwired and was a relative snap once I decided to use the torx screw for the ground instead of the PITA bolt on the driver's side. Thank for posting these fantastic instructions.
Now, onward to the iPod adapter install (and another thread) . . .
