My Ride: 2015 535D M Sport
Here's a quick tip for holding the V1 in place a little better. I was getting annoyed by it slipping forward toward the windscreen whenever I pushed the Vol button to mute it or change the program mode. By design, it is supposed to push toward the windsheild until it is held in place by a rubber bumper. But since the e60 has a highly sloped windshield, the V1 just keeps sliding down the windshield until it is at an odd angle. So I put a little GE Silicone Seal on the side sliding parts of the mount and case, positioned it how I want it and let it set up. That holds it in place nicely, is invisible, and the selant can easily be removed by peeling it off. One word of warning: don't get the sealant on the window or the suction cups!

My Ride: 2008 M5 -- Exterior: Silverstone, Interior: Black. Fully Loaded. That just about sums it up! :-)

I just wanted to add an update to this thread:
I have a 2008 M5 and the Green + Yellow wire that comes from the rain sensor IS STILL THE RIGHT WIRE to use. I've heard some comments that the wiring *may have* changed throughout the years; however, in my case, the same wire worked for the V1 power source.

My Ride: 2004 545i Sport - Silver-Grey, Nav, Active Cruise, HUD, sport seats, Logic-7, charcoal filter mod, Euro reflectors, hard-wired V1
I just finished hard-wiring my new V1 that Santa was kind enough to give me for Xmas . I followed Mr. Don Juan's excellent instructions and had no problems at all. I easily loosened one of the Torx screws and attached the ground wire to it. So far, just driving around town, the V1 has successfully detected numerous automatic door-openers in some strip-malls as well as a couple of speed-limit signs that display your actual speed as you approach them.
