I hate to admit that I made a mistake; my wife asks me practice much too often.

I wrote too fast last night ? in the light of dawn I was able to find the Green/Yellow wire going to the mirror. I apologize!

However, as you can see from the photos, the Green wire has a very small Yellow stripe. In fact, I had to twist the wire around the see the stripe. See the small vertical green arrow above the inset in the top photo. The line appears smaller than ? mm. Take your time, rout around and you will find it. In the lower photos, one can see the Red 18/22 wire gauge squeeze tap that I used.

I plugged the Valentine One in, stared the car. The Valentine came on, and when I shut the car off, it too turned off. Now to run the wires to my remote display.

Also, my appreciation to gwf545 for his very sage advice, above.

I did the hardwire for my Escort a couple of months ago and it was working perfectly until two weeks ago.

My detector now intermittantly , for no apparent reason, reads Low Voltage, the Powering Down.

Any thoughts? I am grounded to the Sunroof torx bolt. Should I switch to the hard-to-get-to frame bolt?

Thanks!

Check your T-tap connection as well. It's possible that this is loose.

I checked it and secured everything. The problem persists.

When I orignally used the blue tap and the connection was loose, the detector would shut off instantly. What I have going on now is that it stays on and displays Low voltage and announces that is it powering down and shuts itself off.

It also doesn't seem related to bumps or shaking. It is independant of use of the rain sensor.

Take it off the sunroof torx screw and put it on the "hard to get to frame bolt" I got the same results when I used the
torx screw on the sunroof motor when I hooked up my V1. I was getting and intermittent 7-8 volts. Change your ground.

Thanks. I moved the ground two days ago. No hiccups so far!

Does the active cruise radar cause any sort of false alarms or does it use a frequency that is outside the range that police use?

Just wondering...

Are you sure about this? My V1 false alarms every 10-15 seconds when I use it in my 535xit with active cruise. So I don't bother using it in the 535. It stays plugged in my M3 now.

I was never sure -- I was the one asking the question...

I've had a few times when I've had the same falsing on my V1 (due to the ACC system) but I've had more times when it's worked perfectly (still using ACC). I can't explain why it does this once in a while -- I assumed I could probably get Valentine to upgrade the software to fix it (mine is pretty old) but never got around to dealing with it since it usually works fine.

I hooked my V1 up on Sat using the original instructions - It is wokring great. No problems using the torx screw for a ground yet. I can't believe I went 2 years with that cord hanging.

Thanks!

Does Don Juan's installation allow the car to go into sleep mode? I currently have a hardwired radar detector, but it is preventing my car from going into sleep mode.
