My SA just called and said that the ProgMan update stalled because it can't "read" the iPod module?!?! Do they need to activate the MP3 capability first? Now, he says they are going to have to charge me for labor to trouble shoot. This iPod module is brand new (bought it from Gary - Newport BMW)...

That's BS. your SA is blatantly lying. They messed up the update. ALL they need to do is UPDATE MP3. Then the ipod interface works just fine unless you didn't have a CD-Changer. Then they need to enable that too.

The MP3 update does nothing more but enable the CCC to properly read mp3 and has NOTHING to do with the interface at all.

Hello Schulrog

I have followed the thread here. I have a 2009 530i with CD Changer and Nav. I have bought the BMW Ipod connector. Took 10 mins to install. The six menus come up with number 1 being playlists. I click on this and the first song plays but I am left with a 'please wait' message. The list then never loads. I have waited for 30 mins and still the same. I have taken a picture of the screenshot.

Do I need prgramming at the dealers. If so, the bulletin on your website is only for the US I believe. Any advice?

Much appreciated.

Nick

If you don't have mp3 enabled you do need that for the ipod interface to work. I am sure there is a bulletin for every country so talking to your SA is key. Sounds like it is a mp3 issue. The CCC is trying to read the mp3's but unable to do so bc it doesn't have the necessary coding.

Just pulled out the ipod kit from my 2007 530i before returning it to the dealer at the end of my 3 year lease.

I decided to purchase a 2006 550i to replace it and install my old ipod kit.

Followed all the great instructions on this thread and had it in my car in 30 minutes!

Now here's the problem,

I tried the mp3 cd in the in-dash cd slot and it didn't recognize it. The car didn't have the mp3 option enabled or the CDC option either. I have no NAV.

I took into the dealer for some other work and asked to have the mp3 and CDC options enabled and they told me that the CDC option worked but the mp3 option can't be enabled since the car needs M-ASK which isn't available on 2006 models!

That doesn't sound right to me. The ipod integration kit is available on pre 2007 models!

I have the kit installed and the CDC option enabled...what am I missing?

The SA is convinced the car needs M-ASK and it's not available on an 06?

What do you guys think?

if you don't have NAV mp3 retrofit won't enable the ipod Interface. You actually need to get some other coding done if you don't have NAV.

I dont have nav or cdc, so what do they have to code to make this interface work?

can someone please help me. i just installed a used ipod interface i just got today using this DIY and iDrive is not recognizing it. My car is a 06 530i with navi, logic 7, & cdc that also reads mp3 cd's though the indash cd drive. i thought this was all the requirements for it to work but the only thing that happens when i plug my 3g iphone in is the phone ask if i want to turn it to airplane mode. when i go to idrive i still see the cdc slots but in light grey (no cds?)
