hello there
i installed my iPod interface last night and i think i have to get it coded. CD1 CD2...etc was just grayed out. i wanted to ask input from everybody who installed theirs

im trying to figure out what is that circled out on thick red "A".. and also i cant figure out how to attach the unit on the ceiling of compartment. there was a gray material with adhesive on the other side.. i cant figure out what is that for. on the DIY pictures it was just placed on top of the unit. it doesnt make sense if i just put it on top .. please help. thanks!
The "A" stuff is just foam I had laying around and "B" comes with the interface.

one last question.. how did you fasten/secure the ipod interface? zipties? or just sandwiched it with the foam?

Used both, the zip ties to hold it up and then the foam blocks which i don't know are necessary but looked good anyway

I feel like an idiot posting this but I've been trying to loosen the CD Changer on my 06 530xi with a a Torx-10 driver but I just hear a clicking noise each time I twist and it doesn't seem to be loosening. I showed it to a friend and he seemed to think it was spring-loaded and that I needed a special tool to get the CD Changer out. What tool did you guys use? Did you hear the clicking noise each time you twisted? What am I doing wrong? I didn't take the glove box off because I am able to reach in there pretty easily.

I need reassurance from all of you that this will be plug n play.

I have a CDC in my glove box however I have never bought a cartridge or have ever used it. Do I need to have this enabled or is it already enabled since the CDC is in there?

What I need to do:

1. MP3 Retrofit by the dealer
2. Install IPOD interface and enjoy

This is correct right guys?

I have read every post of 14 pages just want the reassurance of my fellow E60ers.

I just ordered an Ipod kit for my car today, it should arrive on Thursday with a bit of luck. I have a 03/2004 525d E60 with the single cd and a cd changer fitted, I have been reading through the posts here but I am a bit confused. Should it just work or do I need to ask the dealer to enable MP3 function? I kind of expect the answer to be that I need to enable the mp3 function at the dealer.

Not long to thursday, I guess I'll find out soon.
