Step 6, removing the trim piece from the Car Communications Computer (whew!):

(Note: the special tool noted in this document is an anti-static mat with ground.)

Many thanks Rudy for all of your hard work to dig up the instructions. Based on my discussion with the BMW parts manager, I believe the new center trim instrument panel for MY05 will have only have the wood under the CCC (so it is not necessary to remove the CCC), thus I should be able to stop at step 4 in your sequence of events posting, substitute the new panel and reverse the order.

I'm not sure I follow what you're saying but either way, you should be able to do what you want based on some or all of the steps I posted.

On another subject, why don't you take the plunge and register for the forum? Not sure why you haven't yet, there's really no risk and you might actually become a regular around here. We won't bite! (Okay, at least most of us won't bite -- I can't speak for Iceman or Flowerfred! )
