Step 6, removing the trim piece from the Car Communications Computer (whew!):
(Note: the special tool noted in this document is an anti-static mat with ground.)
Good luck!

look up on the posts there is more info on aux install.
i have just done this and am awaiting january to get the software upload to recognise the input.
basicall it is nerve racking and stressfull ,but with care and patience can easilly be done.
caution on disconnecting battery as i believe active steering is a problem there is apparently a lock bolt that drops down if you disconnect the battery, ref radar detector install on do it youself worth reading the excellent help there.
i dont have active steeering,so no problem disconnecting battery.only needed to reset the clock after.
WARNING
BEFORE DISCONNECTING BATTERY PLACE CAR IN DRIVE OR PUT THE GEAR SELECTOR IN POSITION towards rear of car.
[color=#FF6666]if you dont you will not withdraw the ccc unit and then you cannot release wiring to add the wires on the aux harness.ie you add the aux wires to the repective positions of the existing plug 1 of mine was very hard to withdraw (the locking tag only covers 1/2 the pin so be carefull pressing the release clip, it will then need a slight lift of clip to make sure you have a solid lock in the plug)
the only difficult trim was the lower pdc etc panel, which i believe was the original thread, incidentally there are 2 clips either side bottom ones are held in captive clips and sometime pop out orient them corrctly if they come out of there holes.,i needed a lot of leverage to remove this panel which is fixed to the cd/dvd facia it all comes off together one piece.
hope thet helps.
trim removal tools would be usefull.i used screwdriver but a plastic spatula would be better i think.
it all snaps back ok
dont forget the gear selector, and you add the wires to ooriginal plug

Hi Rudy ,
thx a lot. I live in Germany. I will discuss it tomorrow with a friend of mine. He works at BMW as an leading technican and he has the TIS at home.
But he thought, that the wiring will be very expensive. His problem is, that he is very good in solving problems caused by the engine, or other things. But in questions about computers etc., he is not very well.
If you could give me additional help i would be glad about it.
Greetings, Elric

I have obtained an iboc tuner, antenna splitter, and necessary brackets for my 2007 5501. I need to find a way to connect power, MOST and antenna wires to it (none of those items yet exist in the area of the stock bracket) and have it programmed to work with the MOST ring.
