I'm pretty sure that there is a computer component behind there which is why you lose the storage compartment with nav.

I'll check TIS as soon as I can and see if I can find more specifics...

Okay, I think I found the instructions. You're not going to like them. Apparently, the lower (gray) piece is clipped (from behind) to the upper darker colored piece that has the slots for the discs.

In order to remove those two, you need to remove the wood strip and the center & passenger side vents. It requires special tools that include an assortment of wedges and things to remove the trim panels.

I could post the detailed instructions but after all this, I'm still pretty sure that there is a big fat silver CCC computer module located directly behind this gray panel.

Okay, after typing the above, I found the following that should put this issue to rest:

Mine doesn't have the gray area, i have a small area where you can place stuff. though i don't think it is big enough for a flip out tv/dvd player. maybe if you dig deaper you can install one. but it won't be big

I find no. 7 interesting in the pdf. It says optional memory enlargement.. That means we can update our hardware in the future to a bigger memory if bmw does it with a newer model... cool!

Hi Rudi,

I have no ccc. I have only the storage compartment. Is there a chance to retrofit my e60 with a ccc ? I'm very interested in this, because i have no navigation system. I would give everthing to refit my car with navi.

I have a second question: At the moment I use a pocket pc as navigation system. How can I connect the pocket pc with the speakers ?

THANKS A LOT FOR HELPING ME !

Tom.
